MINI has now released the MINI Roadster into the MINI online configurator which lets users build, design and buy their own MINIs. Included in th online configurator is a
John Cooper Works version of the MINI Roadster which sports the standard
JCW accessories and also list a few sexy option extras to make your John Cooper Works version that little bit more special.
However, disappointingly the configurator in the USA has had far more time
and money dedicated to it at the moment than it's UK counterpart
- the result is a rather poor experience on the UK MINI
configurator site compared to a fantastic animated experience on the american
MINI site. To see the Roadster JCW at its best visit the American configuator
here. Well worth a look!
The
MINI Roadster will come in four varieties; the 122bhp Cooper Roadster, the 184bhp Cooper S, the 143bhp Cooper SD 2.0-litre diesel, and the 211bhp petrol
John Cooper Works (our favorite of course!), complete with a 147mph top speed and a 0-62mph time of 6.5 seconds.
Mini has given the Roadster a higher front axle load compared with the hatch, giving the front wheels extra traction, while extra stiffening bits help provide agility and precise handling.
The Roadster also gets DSC and DTC as standard, while EDLC (electronic differential lock control) is optional.
The MINI Connect system provides full iPhone
connectivity as well as Google services, RSS news feeds, in-car use of Facebook and Twitter.
Prices will start at £18,015 for the Cooper,
rising to £24,850 for the JCW.

MINI have published their MINI Roadster gallery focusing on the International MINI Roadster launch. We've updated our gallery section on the MINI Roadster site to include the full gallery of images associated to the launch.

As part of MINI's rebranding to differentiate the John Cooper Works (JCW) line of cars from the other class of MINI, MINI AG (BMW) have announced that the JCW Areokit will now become standard on all JCW MINIs from 2012. It's a welcome move in the right direction to make the JCW brand more special - an increase in plant capacity and a simplier installation process allowed the change to take place.
In addition, the JCW front grill has been enlarged by 10mm to
make the JCW look more aggresive!
